I am looking to reenter the mountain biking leisure activity. I rode one when I was a kid and I loved it, my friends finished up going BMX so I followed then but now I am looking to return to mountain biking. I am looking at the above models but I’m not sure which one I want. I am looking for a excellent trail riding bike that can handle rough terrain like rooted trails and the like. I’d perfer ruggedness over speed but I don’t want to sacrifice much of either. Any experienced riders able to help me out?

I’d lean more towards the Marin..in my opinion you bet more bang for your buck
That is a very tough call. All of those are really excellent in my opinion. You’ll just have to find dealers for those “candidates”, test ride them to establish which one you like. If you get down to two “candidates”, pick the less expensive of the two.
haro V4 but u force want to consider the following
u must consider getting companys like haro, kona, norco, specialized,tr… and gt. start with kona, specialized and giant they make excellent bikes and they are cheap for bikes within the same range. for kona look for material, lavadom or scrap
norco:shore run
haro:v run
specialized:any thing they are all excellent and cheap
ironhorse:make very nearly unbreakable bikes but they are heavy
banshee:morphine run
before buying the bike make sure that the dimonds of the frame must be small and points upwards the tyres must be wide and with lots of rubber studs. the fork must have atleast 100mm of travel better if beond 130mm. the suspention brand that you must look for is marzochii or rock shock they are the most common ones. if you dont like the suspention then you force consider spending an other 500$ on bomber shocks they are excellent qualityed material. i recomand a hard tail since they are simpler to ride up hill and gives lots of air. and is cheaper and lighter. you must look for disk breaks but if the bike dont come with them v breaks are excellent too exept over time they dig into your rim and shorten the rim’s life.
