
i ride haro v24 mountain bike. its a 24 inch, it was given to me by a friend for free. and im just effective on building on it, i want to make it a 24″ reear wheel, with a 26″ front wheel. i have had some offers for a boxxer fork, which i really like, and was wondering if it would snap the frame. i like hardtail freeride, but have herd storys of snapped frames, if you guys could help out that would be fantastic. thank you very much.

It all depends on the kind of riding you do. Commonly, long-travel forks are designed for downhilling and taking really huge hits. But to be able to withstand this kind of abuse, they have to be a small beefier and therefore heavier. Most cross-country riders rather the compromise of a shorter-travel fork, it will still smooth out the ride, but lacking adding as much weight as a right downhill fork will.
and ive talked to my uncle about this and he said if you do ride dh you must be excellent. even with a hardtail. i have a hardtail myself and its not snapped yet. and ive taken some pretty harsh hits man
With a frame that’s by now weighted toward the rear wheel, I would recommend no more than 120mm of travel tops. Even the 100 mm force be a small huge, but quite usable. Handling with the 203mm travel Boxxer would be slow and force make the front wash out easily too.
Frame durability force also be an issue. The bike was designed with a pretty standard fork, doubtless 80 mm of travel. The longer fork stress the front of the frame more when you take a huge hit. That extra 5″ can really make a huge difference in the amount of force the front of the frame feels.
in a word yes. boxxers are made mosly for downhill material. especially if u r ging to take it off jumps.
