it is pretty hard to turn a mountain bike into a fixed gear since mountain bikes usually have vertical drop outs instead of horizontal but it can be done. you have to re-bulid the wheel completely using a fixed hub or a flip flop hub

excellent luck but if you really want to delight in the beauty of fixed gear use a road bike when i converted my mountain bike to fixed the chain kept falling off since the geometry just isnt perfect make sure you use one of those gizmos to keep the chain tight
