Why do mens bikes have a bar across the the top and womens are make lacking this? some guy told me that it is since women need to get of the bike lacking showing their undergarments and men dont, Is that right?

Please recommend me in a couple of bikes (mens AND womens please) that would be excellent for a couple wanting to bike around city center and thru our local park evenly…….we know nothing. I brought up this issue before. I by no means learned to ride a bike when I was a kid. I went for some beginner’s-level lessons when I was 25.It consisted of about 4 lessons in the span of 4 weeks. I intended to buy a bike but had not been able to do it for many years afterward. Now I force be able to afford an inexpensive bike, but I am considering the best options. I had heard that bikes at K-Mart are not the best ones to get and that a bike value the fee would have to cost no less than about $300.
When I went for beginner’s lessons years ago, I rode a “Ross” ( from what I best recall). It was designed with a wide seat which I would rather to those seats that are thin as those you see on racing bikes, and I liked the design and the way that it fit me. But I have heard that the best kind of bike for someone like me to ride is a hybrid. I went to a store which sold outdoor-adventure equipment and had some mountain bikes and other kinds of bikes. I was shown one hybrid for about $300 and I know that is considered inexpensive for a excellent hybrid bike but I really did not like the fact that the seat was too thin. It seems to me that such a thin seat is for people who race their bikes and have to sit a certain way. I intend to ride more leisurely at first.
I have recently looked into the internet and have seen that Ross has some hybrid bikes that are on sale at K-Mart. Also Schwinn has some hybrid bikes on sale at K-mart ( and at a few other supplies, but K-Mart would be most convenient for me to go to) and they are approximately $225 to $265 which, as far as fee, is what I would rather, but I have to worry about the quality too. Does anyone know if Schwinn and Ross hybrid bikes are decent enough in quality for the fee?

I have a 8 year ancient son who wants a “mountain bike” for his birthday. I want to buy a pair of bikes for myself and him to use. I have 15 acres of material goods that I want to use these bikes on. It is mostly flat grassland but there is rough terrain and some 10 to 15-foot hills to ride over. These bikes will not be used on the street. Any suggestions on what type and brand of bikes for beginners(adult and kid)that can be bought reasonably? For occasional use that can take a beating? Thanks for any suggestions.

I’m going to be parking my bike at a highschool. I will by no means leave it unattended overnight, but the bike will be there about 30 minutes after many students have left. Of course, there will be teachers roaming around the parking lot aswell as wellbeing guards, so I reflect they would help stop, or at least deter theives.
I will be locking my bike in this fashion: A excellent u-lock (Kryptonite Evolution or Kryptolok run 2) around my back wheel and frame securing it to the bike rack, and a cheap cable lock to reliable my front wheel and saddle to the frame.
How do high school theives steal bikes? If they want to steal my bike, they will need a car jack and boltcutters, and they will also need to spend a excellent deal of time, doubtless 10-15 minutes stealing my bike. I don’t reflect they would do that, they would rather steal the bikes protected with a crappy cable lock.
The cable lock around my saddle and front wheel (and anchored to the frame) would prevent the opportunity for some random jackass to steal them for fun, right?
Are highschool thieves even smart enough to know what brand Giant is? Do they even care? My bike has no shock absorbers, and it doesn’t look ‘cool’ to the average highschool joe. Are highschoolers stupid enough to rather steal a ‘cooler looking’ huffy or NEXT, just since it has shocks? My bike is an FCR3, a very nice bike fore smart people, a terrible ‘uncool’ bike for the average kid who still thinks he needs full suspension on the road. Its not a ‘cool’ mountain bike or a ‘cool’ BMX bikes, and those are the bikes stupid people doubtless reflect are better for commuting to school. I don’t mean any offense to any mountain bikes or BMX riders; I just watched the dew tour and the BMX material was snazzy, and mountain biking looks perilous and exiciting. I’m just saying, people shoudn’t go back and forth to school on their BMX and mountain bikes, but on a nice hybrid or roadie.

My oldest son is now 5 and ready to go on some more serious bike rides. I’ve by now picked out a bike trailer for our younger son but I’m finding it a lot more hard to pick out a bike that I would like since i can’t even figure out which kind I want! Since we will have the trailer and a 5 year ancient, I don’t see us attempting any hard trails so I’ve crossed mountain bikes off my list, but cruisers, comforts and hybrids all seem to have their merits. Which is best for me?
1) No serious trail rides.
2) Pulling a 30 lb bike trailer with up to 100 lbs value of kids
3) Mostly side walk riding with occassional state park paths, etc
4) Possible commuting to the grocery store
5) Possible riding on the beach
6) Using on day trips to explore new places, so could be riding them all day
7) Mostly using on flat surfaces with an occassional causeway

i want to get a new mountain bike but can’t choose on which one. from gary fisher i’m thinking Tassajare, Hookoo E Koo or marlin all with front suspension and disk brakes.
from giant: A.C (not a hardtail) yukon or rainier. i am aware that all these bikes have slight faults, but what’s you opinion? i don’t know which bike would be the best. (in terms of durability, performance and reputation.)
i picked these for several reasons:
my local bike shop carries all of these bikes
they all have front suspension and disk brakes
they are all on sale at my local bike shop.
