mountain bike gear Help with my Mountain Bike Gears!!!!!?
I just got a new Diamondback Sorento mountain bike but by no means had a bike with gears…used to get cycle bikes
but
how the hell are you supposed to use the gears..
i have a slight thought..but i have no clue..
all i kno is..its a 21 speed
and WHEN am i supposed to change gears..
everytime i do..theres this displeasing crunching signal
like i’m contravention it or something….
is it ok to change while biking…
and will the signal go away when i start to learn how to use the gears properly?

Why does my mountain bike randomly change gears when I am riding?

mountain bike gear Why does my mountain bike randomly change gears when I am riding?
When I am riding, especially in gears 6, 7, and 8, they randomly change gears. So when I am standing up and riding, it changes gears and the pedals smack into my leg and I fall farward and crush my chest on my handlebars! It hurts! Does anyone know why it is doing this? I THINK it force have something to do with the barrel adjusters but I am not sure what to do with them, or what they are. So if anyone knows, please can you tell me why and give reasons for what to do? Thanks.

When I am riding and try to change gears on my bike nothing happens. Does anyone know what the conundrum is and how it can be fixed?

mountain bike gear mountain bike gears wont shift?
hi i have been give a mountain bike (push bike) with 18 gears !
I have repaired most of it apart from the gears the bike will still ride but the gears will not shift ! the cable does not seem to be wedged but when i twist the grip it wont turn to shift the gears !
i have studied lots of videos on you tube but found them to be not much of a help !
i don’t really know a lot about bikes so can anyone tell me in idiot terms how to fix or adjust the gears

Changing gears on bike– problem?

kids mountain bikes Changing gears on bike problem?
OKay so i have had my bike for around a year now, not special or anything, not a BMX or Mountain bike just a normal kids bike from Halfords. Ever since the 1st time i rode it i’ve had distress changing the gears. Each time i change it either the chain comes off, the chain gets wedged in between gears or it makes a noise. This bike was the last of its kind and was on the stand, so has no instructions, and had no warranty. We where told, when bought, that we must come back in six weeks, but we live a while from there, so we by no means went back, so we have no warranty and it was by no means checked.(Our flaw)
My dad, who isn’t excellent with bikes, noticed that one of the three wires running from the handle bars to the back where the gear wires are is loose. If i had the time to get it checked out professionally- i would, but i am going out on a long ride tomorrow, and i need it to be ride-able and changeable. Sorry for my nontechnical terms, but if anyone could help me know what COULD be incorrect, i would greatly appreciate it.

mountain bike gear How do I shift gears on my mountain bike?
My mountain bike only has small dashes on the levers you use to change gears… How do I know which are higher or lower gears? Is pushing the levers out taking them into higher gears…or vice versa? Or something else completely. Right now riding on a flat surface is simple, but at the slightest incline…it is really hard to pedal!

Can I get some help please?!?!?!
