kids mountain bikes Is a Freeride mountain bike a good choice for me?
So im about to get a new mountain bike and am looking at a few freeride bikes and was interested in the type. they seem to suit what i like to do. I heard these bikes were heavier though. How much heavier then the average MB are they? and they do have gear shifts right?
I live in the city but i like to go down hills and through the forest which is very rocky and bumpy and i like to mess around the city….So would this be a excellent type of bike to get. Im not sum scrawny small hipster emo kid so i dont mind a small extra work on pedaling it and wutever. So it would be fantastic if you guys can place a pros and cons….thanks

womens mountain bikes Can anyone recommend any good lightweight bicycles?
I am looking to buy a lightweight bicycle for my 58 year ancient mother for her birthday. She is currently using my ancient mountain bike which is way too heavy for her to mount on her car and drive to a trail. I was hoping someone could identify places to buy lightweight bikes and some excellent brands i can look into for her. they do not automatically have to be womens bicycles just lightweight enough for her to be able to lift onto the bike horns on her trunk lacking any help. If people can suggest bike brands and shops, that would be fantastic. Also im a student right now so please dont suggest a 10,000 dollar bike, lol, the cheaper the better. thanks all.
by cheap i mean preferably under 1000. I know im not going to get one for 20 bucks. thx all

mountain bike sales Is this a good bikes/prices?
Im looking to buy a used bike, im a beginner cyclist, and dont want to pay too much, im searching on craigs list for bikes for sale in my local area… i have found the following bikes and prices

Trek 4100 Alpha aluminum mountain bike – $250
Trek 820 mountain bike – $150
26″ Gary Fisher – $200

I am primarily going to be riding on roads, but occasionally through grass and such for small cuts, would any of these bikes suite me? also, how are the prices for these bikes?(too high or cheap? if i do get one of these, what must i bargin for?)

I was in a bike race now (Ore to Shore Bike Epic (if any of you have heard of that race up in the UP of Michigan)) and noticed my bike tires were not getting very excellent traction. My bike is 5 years ancient and has the original tires on it. They are in excellent shape, but I felt like I wasn’t getting excellent enough traction. Can someone help me find a top of the line brand to place on my bike?

I’ve spent days trying to search for mountain bikes with internal-gear hubs and disc brakes. Mostly I find hybrids or cruisers, not the off-road material. Dynamic has the Elite chainless mountain bike, but I’ve heard diverse reviews of the chainless drives. Also the NuVinci gearless hub is fascinating, anyone have any thoughts on that?
