Has anyone out there ever crash on a mountain bike and spit the helmet in half and lived?

mountain bike gear Has anyone out there ever crash on a mountain bike and spit the helmet in half and lived?
I was mountain biking and thought I could go over a 3 feet log. I’ve done it before but this one had thin cream growing on it and I crashed full speed and landed on right side of my head. I thought I had bashed my face in at first but only injuries I had was a cracked right sinus,2 broken ribs, and multitude of scrapes and lacerations.

But when I took my helmet off it was cracked right down the middle!

Has this happened to anyone else?

It was a blast!! I was so proud I showed my helmet to all I know.

I want to do it again but don’t want to get killed or paralyzed. Am I crazy that it made me feel fantastic and more alive?

Which mountain bike helmet to buy?

mountain bike gear Which mountain bike helmet to buy?
I am torn between two helmets, both of which I know would be a deal. I have always had Bell helmets, they work fantastic, fit my head excellent, and I like the overall style but it’s time for a new one and I thought I would try a new style. I am a pretty aggressive criterion and most of my cycling is off road, single track with tight turns and trees.
I am looking at the Bell X-ray helmet http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=23019&subcategory_ID=4210 and the Giro Animas http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=23107&subcategory_ID=4210. My conundrum is that where I live there isn’t a fantastic bike shop that carries these models so I can try them on. Has anyone had any experience with either? Is one better than the other? Your opinions are greatly valued. Have a nice day!

I want to get a helmet for my bike, so I was wondering what I must get. I ride my Globe mountain bike down the channel to the ocean right now, but I want a cool helmet for when I ride in Yosemite in the summer. I was looking at a few of the Pro-Tec models, and I fancy the Cyphon and B2 model looks, if it helps. Thanks for reading!
