I have a spiff program through work and one of the prizes I can point out is a Trek bike (hybrid). There are no womens bikes available, just mens. What would the differences be? I’m 5′ 6″ – would it be too huge? Anything else I must consider? This is my first time getting a nice bike. Thanks for any help!

The hideous certainty: For my 30th birthday, I bought a groundbreaking new, gorgeous green Trek 820. At the time, I was too intimidated to *convincingly* articulate to the uber cool, and admittedly attractive, sales clerk (associate/bike guru) that I wanted a “girls bike”. He insisted that no one rode “girls” bikes “offroading” and that I’d adjust to a boys bike..with no “kickstand”. (Apparently I was to leave it carelessly flopped in the grass whilst I climbed a mountain eating kashi)
The long shameful tale is that, at 5′2″, I could by no means throw my leg over and correctly balance and ride the “boy bike”…and said boy bike hasn’t been used past it’s maiden voyage. Oh sure, I bought it a stand so it could languish in my hall, and it’s stirred 2 times to 2 homes. But I haven’t grown any taller. 9 years later I have finally admitted to myself, and now to untold others, that pride was my downfall, I’m an idiot for buying it, and it needs to go. Your thoughts on pricing a groundbreaking new ancient bike- for shorties?

When do the 2011 TREK bikes become available? I can’t believe TREK underestimated sales for the mountain bike run Fuel EX 8. They sold out of each size except 19.5″ in MAY 2010! I want to be the first to peacefulness the 2011 version lacking paying more for the upgraded 2010 EX 9 run.
The 2010 TREK Fuel EX 8 are sold out in each size but 19.5″ since MAY! (one size too tall for me). That is the bike I want. They only manufactured so many and don’t/won’t produce more even though the demand is very high. I know, stupid huh? I don’t want the EX 5, 6 or 7 run. EX 8 has just so what I want at my fee point. My local Trek shops in Minnesota hire kids who barely know their Trek bikes or are the worst 20 year ancient salesmen in the world. So if anyone knows when the 2011 will be shipping, please let me know. Thanks.

I rode on the Trek 1.1 for very small but it felt awesome. Of course this will be my first “expensive” bike buy. Always have ridden much lower end mountain bikes. The Trek 1.1 looks fantastic and it is going for 599.99 at LBS. Excellent sale. I’ve read fantastic reviews about it. But, I have also read fantastic reviews about the Trek 1.5. This one is going for 899.99. This is a $300.00 difference! Can someone help guide me in the right direction? Is the 1.5 that much better that it’d be value the extra money?
Looking to go back and forth from home to school and also take it out for rides and hopefully get into bicycling. I’m 6′2, 180 lbs. Looking at doubtless a 58 in frame.

I know that the 7000 has a lighter aluminum frame. Does that really make a noticeable difference. I weigh 210, So is a lighter frame really that huge of a difference??? Which one is more durable for riding on pavement and Bike paths? I guess it would be the 820 since of the wider rims + heavier weight, but I am not sure…At the shop near my house the 820 is on sale for $280 and the 7000 costs $360, but fee is not that huge a issue. Thanks!!!

I just bought a new trek mtn bike last year and despite them charitable me a new chain and the “pros” adjusting the dang thing forever, whenever the chain is on the smallest sprocket it slippes a lot when I crank on the pedals at all. It’s horrible. I reflect now it is either the rear derailer or the sprocket itself. PLEASE HELP!
